In this weeks’ Day in the Life, we meet Rosanne Reilly, the Head of Operations at Westtech Technologies. Read on to learn about her busy day-to-day, from keeping the office running smoothly, to her hobbies outside of work – it is non-stop for Rosanne and although the pandemic has changed the landscape for Westtech she is busier than ever.
How do you start your day?
I plan each week and day in advance, I check in with my team and review my calendar and action lists each morning.
How do you end your day?
I end my day by checking in with the team and making lists of action items for the following day.
How about the middle part? What does a typical day in your job look like?
Every day is different, I plan my calls and visits for the first half of the day leaving the afternoons for networking and working on projects. I oversee every aspect of the business which is exciting. This is such an amazing time in the tech industry with constant changes and advances. The pandemic has changed the world of work forever.
How do you achieve a work/life balance?
I have implemented a morning commute, a walk or run with my dogs sets me up for the day. I have had to make a conscious effort to break for lunch and finish at a reasonable time. I love working from home, but I look forward to getting back to face to face meetings and visiting the office a few days a week.
How important is upskilling to you?
Extremely important, in the tech industry you must be always at the top of your game. Were all constantly learning and developing our skills. I am a massive advocate of self-development.
Tell us about a project or accomplishment that you consider to be the most significant in your life?
Building my own home was a massive accomplishment and an experience I will never forget.
Tell us the most interesting thing about you that we could not learn from your CV Alone?
I love animals, especially dogs and I am working on a project with some amazing Irish businesses and government lobbyists to make tougher laws in Ireland to protect animals starting with dogs. Unfortunately, there are too many animals being mistreated, unregulated puppy farms are a massive problem and some amazing dog shelters do not have enough support or funding although the feedback at present is that adoption rates of dogs from shelters has increased massively over the past year which is fantastic.
How would your team describe you?
Oh, I do not know… maybe that, I am quiet, until I have something to say, I’m a bit of an introvert.
