Good Shepherd Services has served the needs of women and children who are vulnerable to homelessness in the Cork area for in excess of 40 years. They provide a continuum of care from emergency shelter and support to education, training and development to women and children who find themselves in crisis or have lost their home.
Homelessness frequently arises from a vulnerability caused by one or more problems. This can arise in the girl or woman herself, from her parents or partner or husband. These problems include mental ill health, substance abuse, intellectual disability, anti-social Behaviour and domestic trauma (violence, sexual or physical abuse or severe family conflict). These are the realities of the women and children they support.
