The following scheduled road works are in situ on the main arterial routes as agreed by An Garda Siochana and Cork City Council:
- The Jack Lynch Tunnel is closed for three nights – Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday – from 9pm to 4am to facilitate essential planned maintenance that must be undertaken by the tunnel operator to ensure the safe running of the facility. Advance messaging signs were placed on N71, N40 and the main arterial routes last week, advising motorists of the closure and are still in situ.
- Irish Water are in the process of constructing a new trunk feeder main along the full length of the Lower Glanmire Road to Horgan’s Quay, which is imperative to further improving the city’s water supply. To minimise disruption at this particular stage of construction – currently in the vicinity of the Myrtle Hill Terrace, working inbound to Water Street – works are only permitted after rush hour traffic in the evening along with a finish time of 6am each morning.
Today’s work is permitted between 10:30pm and 6am. Irish Water are responsible for the management and notifications in relation to these works.
- Road works at other locations across the city may be in situ and details of same can be found on Cork City Council’s Road Closure Notice. This is published each Friday afternoon before close of business for the upcoming week.
- There is no closure of the Jack Lynch Tunnel planned for Friday, Saturday or Sunday night. Roadworks are being kept to a minimum over the weekend, to facilitate the influx of traffic for the Jazz Weekend.
Apologies for any inconvenience caused. Every effort is made to permit these works at the least disruptive time as they have to be accomodated.
