Phase 1 of the overnight resurfacing work of the Courtstown and Harbour Point road was successfully completed at 5am this morning and the road is fully usable now. It wasn’t without its challenges overnight and Little Island Business Association thanks the many businesses and employees that were inconvenienced and delayed during the night because of the work. Thanks to An Garda Síochána and Cork County Council for their assistance in attending overnight. Thanks to Damien Ryan Contractors and the entire crew for their support and patience.
Phase 2, will commence at 7pm this evening and this will necessitate a complete road closure period from approximately 7.30pm – 8.45pm and also from approximately 9.30pm – 10.15pm. At all other times during the evening and night the road will be passable on one side and we would ask everyone to work with the traffic management team onsite and with the stop and go model that will be in place. These works have taken up to 15 years to get underway with Uisce Éireann Irish Water now completing the very long process that so many businesses have been part of and had to endure. This new road, new footpaths, new lighting and new landscaping will improve the entire area for everyone and on completion of the works, Cork County Council will take responsibility for the road and its future maintenance.
Little Island Business Association will be working with the new management company that will be put in place to manage the area and again we would stress the importance of engagement from every business in the area so that everyone is involved and the views of everyone are taken onboard.
