Seven years ago, Soma Coffee Company began with a simple yet profound love for coffee and a mission to introduce high-grade specialty coffee to Cork. Starting modestly with just one coffee machine, the founders—Paul, Damien, Alex, and Irene—quickly captured the hearts of Cork’s coffee enthusiasts.
Soma Coffee’s journey began at 23 Tuckey Street, where they first served meticulously roasted brews to a growing audience. Their commitment to quality saw them expand operations quickly, moving from just serving coffee to roasting their own. With the purchase of a Giesen 6kg small batch roaster, they began sourcing green coffee beans from some of the most progressive producers worldwide. Additionally, they were able to serve coffee “in style” under the same roof as where it was roasted.
As the community’s support grew, so did Soma Coffee. The company soon outgrew its original setup, leading to the opening of two additional cafes and moving the roasting operations to The Black Market on Monahan Road. The acquisition of a large 15kg Giesen roaster marked a new chapter. This allowed them to enhance their wholesale operations and supply specialty cafes both in Ireland and internationally.
Today, Soma Coffee sources its beans from accredited, high-grade specialty coffee farms and brokers across Africa, South, and Central America, ensuring each cup served is of unparalleled quality.
To celebrate their 7th anniversary, Soma Coffee is extending a heartfelt thank you to their loyal customers with a special promotion. On Wednesday, May 15th, coffee lovers can enjoy any coffee for just €2 at all four locations. This gesture is a token of appreciation for the continuous support that has made their dream come true.
