Lidl Ireland GmbH is seeking planning permission to construct a €200 million Regional Distribution Centre in Wallingstown, Little Island in Cork, as the retailer aims to enhance its logistical infrastructure to support ambitious expansion plans in the south and southeast of the country. Lidl is one of Ireland’s fastest-growing food retailers, with 223 stores in operation throughout the island of Ireland, including both the Republic and Northern Ireland. The proposed Regional Distribution Centre at Little Island would be Lidl’s fourth facility in the Republic of Ireland and the second to be located in Cork.
A design team appointed by Lidl is currently in the process of preparing a planning application and Environmental Impact Assessment Report for the proposed development. Lidl is committed to understanding the needs and concerns of local residents and stakeholders before finalising the details of the planning application and invites members of the public to participate in shaping the development.
