Down Syndrome Ireland, Cork branch (DSCork) are pleased to announce the Field of Dreams Spring Concert to be held at St. Fin Barre’s Cathedral on World Down Syndrome Day, on Thursday, March 21st.
A highlight of this much anticipated concert will be a specially commissioned performance by Deirdre Masterson and the students of the American College, Dublin, of Dr. Phil Coulter’s composition – ‘Scorn Not His Simplicity’. Dr. Coulter was delighted to support the Field of Dreams concert when his permission was sought.
The song has been re-mastered by Pete Maher (of U2, La La Land and Katy Perry fame), and will be released as a single for Mothering Sunday on March 11th.
The Field of Dreams Spring Concert is a testimony to the many positive changes that have taken place in our perceptions and understanding of people with Down Syndrome in more recent times.
Ray O’Callaghan, Chairperson for DSCork said “We as an organisation, support families from birth to adults and we are delighted to be given the opportunity by American College Dublin and CorkETB to benefit from this impressive event. The Field of Dreams is an adult based training centre and is an addition to the many services we are already providing as a rapidly growing organisation with nearly 400 members in Cork. This event will help to continue to grow our services”.
The concert promises to be a night of wonderful entertainment and celebration. The collaboration between the American College, Dublin Musical Theatre students and the Cork Education Training Board instrumental students will combine musical theatre and a selection of Irish music genres in the exquisite surroundings of St. Fin Barre’s Cathedral.
Tickets are available now from Eventbrite, Pro Musica and Down Syndrome Cork at a cost of €25 and €20.
