Professional services firm EY announced the opening of its new, expanded office space in the heart of Cork City, following outstanding double-digit revenue growth of 10 percent in Cork in FY17, and 18 percent more broadly in the Munster region. The expansion follows an increase in headcount of 70 percent at EY Cork in the last five years. The firm, which employs 199 people in the city, has opened a redesigned, modern office space at Lapp’s Quay to facilitate this ongoing expansion. Overlooking the River Lee, the office has the capacity to support the firm’s ambition to grow to a headcount of at least 250 people by 2020. Employing more than 2,400 people across the Island of Ireland,
EY has significantly boosted its pool of talent in the past six months alone, with positions created across its seven offices in Dublin, Belfast, Cork, Limerick, Waterford and Galway. Commenting on the opening, John Higgins, Managing Partner, EY Cork, said: “We are delighted to move into this new ultra-modern office with great facilities for all our team in Cork and also room for expansion into the future. The new office is designed using EY Office of the Future design principles, which incorporate flexible workspaces, meeting spaces and collaboration areas. Also, and importantly, we have completely upgraded our client suite and have taken advantage of the new technologies available, which help run interactive meetings. We look forward to inviting our clients into our new office over the coming months.”
EY Ireland Managing Partner, Mike McKerr, added: “The outstanding performance of EY Cork as an advisor to some of the region’s most successful technology, life sciences and energy companies, as well as entrepreneurial businesses underpins the need to expand our Cork office. The Cork team has played a crucial role in our growth as a firm over the last number of years, and we’ve already made a fantastic start in FY18. As we look towards our 2020 ambitions to expand to a team of more than 250 people in Cork, the investment we’ve made in the physical space reflects our commitment to building on our established reputation in Cork and growing our footprint and client offering in Munster more broadly.” EY Cork provides assurance, tax, transaction and advisory services to multinational and indigenous Irish companies, as well as entrepreneurs, high net worth individuals and family-run businesses in Cork and the wider Munster area. The new 1,653 square metre office space, designed by MCM and Henry J Lyons, on Lapp’s Quay, features a spacious open-plan layout and was developed to create a more progressive work environment, which reflects new ways of working. EY’s new office embraces the firm’s global EY@Work model, which is based on developing modern office space supported by the latest technology, design and environmental standards.
