Little Island Business Association is delighted to see a planning application being made to Cork County Council for a new Specialty-only Small Animal Veterinary Hospital in Little Island. The application is for a state-of-the-art hospital in Eastgate, in a building unoccupied since O’ Flynn Group developed the very successful 120 acre business park. The building was originally earmarked as a bar and restaurant, and change of use has been sought by the applicants, Veterinary Specialists Cork. The company is part of Veterinary Specialists Ireland, founded in 2019 by Cork native Dr. Laura Cuddy and her husband Dr. Turlough Mc Nally with the vision of providing exemplary Specialist-led care to pets on the island of Ireland. Patients can be referred to Veterinary Specialists Cork from their general practitioners for advanced diagnostics, including CT and MRI, and procedures such as orthopaedics and neurosurgery, soft tissue and cancer surgery and minimally invasive techniques.
Laura and Turlough graduated from University College Dublin in 2008 and underwent years of additional training in some of the largest and most advanced hospitals in the United States. They returned to Ireland in 2013 and identified a need for rapid access to Specialist care for pets. They opened the doors of their 8,000 sq ft Specialty Small Animal Hospital in Summerhill Co. Meath in 2019. The Meath facility experienced rapid growth, currently employing over 50 highly skilled veterinary professionals, and is the only hospital providing advanced multidisciplinary Specialist care to pets on the island of Ireland 24/7/365. Little Island Business Association welcome the planning application to Cork County Council by Veterinary Specialists Cork and the addition of another high-tech medical facility to the business park. Drs. Cuddy and Mc Nally have been contacted comment and will give a press release in due course.
